How to Prepare Your Idaho Roof Before the Next Big Storm

You cannot stop an Idaho storm, but you can make sure your roof is ready for it. A few steps now can prevent a lot of damage later.

Have your roof inspected now

The best time to find a weak spot is before the storm, not after. A pre-storm inspection catches lifted shingles, worn flashing, and tired pipe boots while they are still a quick fix instead of an open door for wind and rain.

Clear your gutters

Clogged gutters overflow in a downpour and can back water up under your shingles, which is a common source of storm leaks. Clear them before the weather turns. Our gutter guide covers how often to do it here.

Trim back overhanging branches

Branches that hang over the roof break off in high wind and can puncture shingles or worse. Trimming them back removes one of the most common causes of storm damage.

Know your insurance before you need it

Check your policy now so you know your deductible and what is covered for wind and hail. When a storm hits, you will be glad you are not reading the fine print for the first time. We help with the claim process when the time comes.
