Roof Replacement in Star, Idaho

Star. Free estimates, financing available, 10-year workmanship warranty.

Star went from a small town to one of the fastest-growing cities in Idaho in about a decade, and nearly all of it is new construction strung along the Boise River corridor. So most Star roofs are young, but a surprising number are already failing, because the builder-grade shingles that came standard on those subdivisions were not built for the open wind that runs down the river valley. We are a locally owned company that handles both the early-failure upgrades and the genuine end-of-life replacements.

Why a roof this new might already need replacing

Star built out fast and recently, mostly along Highway 44 and the Boise River, which is open ground with steady valley wind and the strong high-desert UV the whole area gets. To put up subdivisions quickly, builders used thin three-tab and entry-level shingles, and that material does not hold up out here. It is common to see a Star roof that is only ten to fifteen years old already shedding granules, cracking, or lifting at the edges. When a roof that new is failing, the issue is almost always the original material, not anything you did or did not do.

Upgrade instead of repeating the mistake

Putting the same builder-grade shingle back on just restarts the same countdown. On Star homes we point most people to a heavier architectural or impact-resistant shingle, or to metal, that can actually take the river-corridor wind and carry a warranty worth having. The handful of older homes in the original Star core are a more standard end-of-life replacement, and we treat those with the same care.

Star neighborhoods we work in

We replace roofs from the older core near State Street and Highway 44 out to the newer subdivisions spreading north toward the foothills and south across the river. The river-adjacent neighborhoods and the open north-side developments catch the most wind. Because Star grew so recently, a lot of our work here is upgrading early-failing builder roofs across whole subdivisions rather than tearing off decades-old asphalt.

Materials that hold up in Star

  • Architectural asphalt shingles, a meaningful step up from builder-grade with far better wind performance and 30 to 50 year warranties.

  • Class 3 impact-resistant asphalt, tougher in the open river-valley wind and eligible for the 10 to 35 percent Idaho insurance discount.

  • Standing seam metal, 50 plus years and a strong fit for the exposed north-side and river-corridor homes.

How insurance works in Star

If wind or hail damaged your roof, you may have a covered claim, and a newer roof with builder-grade material that took storm damage is frequently replaced rather than patched. We document the damage the way Idaho carriers expect, work with all of them, and bill directly so you pay your deductible.
