How Much Do Seamless Gutters Cost, and Are Gutter Guards Worth It?

Seamless aluminum gutters are priced by the linear foot, and a full replacement with downspouts is one of the more affordable exterior projects a homeowner can do. Gutter guards can add roughly as much again depending on the product. On average the price comes down to the length of the runs, the height of the home, and the condition of the fascia behind the old gutters. Guards are worth it under mature trees and rarely worth it on open lots with nothing overhead.

Why seamless beats sectional

Seamless gutters are rolled on site to the exact length of each run, so the only joints are at corners and outlets. Sectional gutters from the big box store leak at every seam eventually, and in Fargo winters and Treasure Valley freeze thaw cycles, eventually comes quickly. Seamless costs more upfront and stops the annual reseal ritual.

The honest case on gutter guards

Under cottonwoods and maples, guards keep gutters flowing and pay for themselves in skipped cleanings, especially in Moorhead and older Boise neighborhoods with real tree cover. On a new subdivision lot in Kuna or Horace with no trees, they solve a problem you do not have. No guard is maintenance free; the good ones just stretch cleanings from twice a year to occasional.

What matters more than guards

Correct gutter size for the roof area, enough downspouts, correct pitch, and extensions that carry water away from the foundation. Undersized and underpitched gutters overflow whether they are guarded or not. Our guides to gutter service in Fargo and preventing ice dams cover the winter side of the same system.
